The American Legion
was founded in 1919 by World War I veterans to help meet the needs of veterans and their family in communities across the nation. The mission of The American Legion National Headquarters Library
is to collect, maintain, and make available the historical documents and artifacts relating to The American Legion National Organization.
The library's contributions to the Internet Archive begin with The American Legion magazine which was first published weekly in 1919. Currently, the magazine is published 12 times a year and keeps readers informed about issues that impact veterans.
